Collaborative notes for the Why not open session
Using “Free of price, technical and (most) legal restrictions on reuse” as a working description, this is a session aimed at all creators, providers and consumers on the Internet.
- Why do some businesses, agencies, researchers and educators adopt openness and some don’t?
- What are the behaviours that enable openness? What are the incentives and barriers to greater use or provision of open resources?
- What is the value of, for example, open software, open educational resources, open access, open data, open science and open government?
- What are your stories of success and otherwise?

Open data: women online. A double session exploring the practical application of open data.
Collaborative notes for the Open data workshop session
In this 2-hour data expedition you will practically explore open data. The workshop will encourage you to map uncharted territory, discover hidden stories, and solve unsolved mysteries using open data about women online.
- What can we learn from data about harassment and safety of women online?
- Is there any data? What other challenges do women face online?
This interactive, creative session will help us learn from each other and work with open data to solve real-life problems, answer questions and tell stories. There is a role for everyone to participate, men and women, regardless of your technical skills.
Please bring your own device.
