Securing our youth: they aren’t as savvy (or native) as we might think
Collaborative notes for the Privacy in education session
Our schools are ever increasingly becoming digital habitats for students. In the race to have students digitally literate we are seeing both consumption and creation with technology as more and more content gets pushed out into the web.
But what do students really know about securing themselves and their content online?
This session is a discussion around how schools, teachers and students are thinking about privacy and security. We will explore how schools store and share data they collect and what administrators, teachers and students might need to know about privacy and security.

Dispute resolution online: models and merits
Collaborative notes for the Online dispute resolution session
Our leisure time, personal lives, and business transactions have all ventured online. Should mediation and court process do the same? This session will discuss models for dispute resolution online. We expect to cover:
- How much is already being done?
- Can online processes fit alongside conventional court processes?
- Should they replace some court processes?
- Which disputes are most suitable for dispute resolution online?
- Should any disputes be excluded?
- What would support or threaten the legitimacy of ODR? For example, do such systems need to be opt-in?
As one model, we may consider the recent ODR report for the UK Civil Justice Council, which emphasised the potential for faster and cheaper proceedings in suitable cases.
Featuring Judge Harvey.

Digital work skills and places
Collaborative notes for the Workplace digital literacy session
The importance of digital literacy skills in workplaces is growing and will become more important for the future of work. Understanding workplace efficiencies and mapping the competency needs of staff, alongside benchmarking skills and courses needs awareness across the employment sector.
How can we help build a digitally literate workforce – across all industries and sectors – for Aotearoa New Zealand?
