- What practices should we adopt as custodians of private data?
- When does “personalisation” become “creepy” and who should care?
- What should society demand of consumers and businesses in this increasingly privacy-conscious era?

Data control, privacy and security in clouds – who owns and controls your data? Fair game? Is it realistic to expect privacy?
Collaborative notes for the Data control in cloud environments session
Dependency of both public (e.g. Gmail, DropBox, etc.) and private cloud environments (e.g. company servers) is increasing.
- But does it come at a cost?
- Are we losing control of data in the cloud?
- When something wrong happens in the cloud (e.g. malicious insiders), are we able to help ourselves?
- Is this even a big deal given the relative growth in information shared on social media platforms?
This session aims to take a vendor-neutral, open-minded discussion about the key issues around users using the cloud. The inputs of this session will be used as user-centric, grassroots feedback and validation for the research aims of the MBIE-funded STRATUS research project – a project which aims to return data control to cloud users via NZ products/ services addressing technical, legal and management perspectives.

STEAM and maker culture in education
Collaborative notes for the Maker education session
The future of maker education and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM): how might we use the internet to create better pathways and access to STEAM subjects through maker culture?
This session will look at what schools and industry are currently doing around maker culture and STEAM and how we can use online tools to create opportunities to ensure there is a shared vision and widespread access for all New Zealanders. We will also explore issues of inclusivity, diversity and approaches to learning in these areas.
